2018 KS2 SATs Arithmetic Practice Papers (Free Version)

(13)
Practice KS2 SATs arithmetic papers, updated for 2018 tests. Included: • 2x Y5 practice papers (purchase the full version to get all 10) • 2x Y6 practice papers (purchase the full version to get all 10) • Y5 & Y6 inputs for each question in isolation (sample - purchase the full version to get all of them) • Y5 & Y6 practice sheets for each question in isolation (sample - purchase the full version to get all of them) These papers have been produced after careful and thorough analysis of the sample, 2016 and 2017 arithmetic papers, and the test developers’ framework. From this, I’ve identified all possible question types that could come up in future papers. In total, there are 39 different areas, and each area is tested in every one of the 10 practice papers. Note: there are less areas in the Y5 papers, as these papers do not include questions from Y6 objectives. Question 1 always tests the same objective (as does question 2 etc.), making this the perfect overlearning/gap analysis tool in preparation for the KS2 arithmetic test. In light of the 2017 paper, question types include: • Finding % of a number using scaling (e.g. 7% of 500) • Finding % of a number using place value (e.g. 15% x 1,000) • Place value scaling (e.g. 0.9 x 200) • 1x missing box question per paper NOTE: In order for each paper to cover all question types, there are 41 questions (45 marks) as opposed to the 36 questions (40 marks) in the official arithmetic papers. Therefore, instead of allowing 30 minutes for the test, you should allow 35 minutes. Information about the Y5 papers (including recommended timings) are included in the ‘check coverage’ document.

Spelling Rule Posters for Years 5 and 6 (Full Version)

Year 5 and 6 A3 spelling rule posters for the new curriculum. These posters are great for displaying on your working wall. Additionally, in light of spelling now being assessed within writing, it is more important than ever that children are competent spellers. These posters are therefore great for just general displaying so that the children can refer to them when proofreading for spelling mistakes. Included in the full version: · /shus/ endings spelt –cious or –tious · /shul/ endings spelt –cial or –tial · Endings spelt –ant/–ance/–ancy or –ent/–ence/–ency 1 · Endings spelt –ant/–ance/–ancy or –ent/–ence/–ency 2 · Endings spelt –able/–ably or –ible/–ibly 1 · Endings spelt –able/–ably or –ible/–ibly 2 · Adding suffixes that begin with vowels to words ending in –fer · Use of the hyphen · Words with the /ee/ sound spelt ei after c · Words containing ough I made these off the back of advice I received from my LA at a writing moderation twilight. At this meeting, it was strongly recommended that spelling rules be displayed within the classroom to allow children to be resourceful when proofreading for spelling mistakes. They stressed that it does not matter if a child is not secure on the Y5 & 6 spelling rules: what does matter is that they know how to go about spelling these types of words correctly. These posters are therefore great for children to refer to during the proofreading process. There is usually 8 or so words used as examples for each rule. I've tried to make sure that these words are the most popular/common for that rule, and so even if a child looks at the posters and does not know how to apply the rules to words they're unsure about, the chances are the word they're after is actually on one of the posters – all that's left to do is copy it! I've left the file as a word document as it kept going all strange when I tried to convert it to PDF! Please leave feedback :)
