The second installment in resopurces for the scientific article. I have pulled exam questions from different topics (Topic 1 to Topic 8). I usually give my class a week to complete these and then provide them with the markschemes. I reiterate that these questions may not come up but it gives them an insight into how the questions are asked and are also very useful for revision.

I have created this resource to support my two classes before we start looking at possible exam questions. I feel the article is more challenging than last year’s one and therefore I feel they need to enagage with it more so they have a greater understanding and can cope with more challenging questions. The resource includes: A presentation explaining the activities with diagrams to support key findings from the article. A summary of the article covering key aspects Keyword template for students to do Completed, detailed keyword template to give to students after they have done theirs. A mapping document template where students go through the article and annotate areas of the specification. A completed mapping document. I hope to prepare another document with exam questions and mark schemes but I am planning this in real time as I am doing it with my own classes. I hope it helps.

This document contains 22 possible exam questions from the scientific article 2024 (In the sloth lane). I have also created a second document with markschemes and with model answers. They are all based on Edexcel exam questions and the markschemes and model answers are also reflective of the exam baord. I have left this as a word document so you as the teacher can amend. This should be copied as the exam questions first- give the students a week to attempt the exam questions and then provide them with the model answers and the mark scheme. This resource could be used in conjunction with the presentation I have uploaded highlighting the synoptic links.

a resource that goes through the synpoptic nature of the article and ties the articles to different areas of the course with specification points. This provides students with information about which topics or exam questions could be assessed on the article.

This resources covers atherosclerosis (AS Edexcel Topic 1). It could be used by other examboards too. It works through the development of a model answer (AO1) on Atherosclerosis. The starter activity reviews the structure of arteries. and how structure is related to function.

This is a revision resource designed for AQA Biology paper 1. It is a revision lesson on the heart and coronary heart disease. It focuses predominantly on exam questions with some theory and the specification points. There are lost of diagrams embedded to explain the marking points and to help the teacher show students how to structure answers. it could be used for other exam boards too.

This resource shows students how to revise using the specification points and how to think synoptically using two questions from the 2023 paper (paper 1 Q6 and Q7). The presentation is indepth and has the specification links, diagrams and model answers to support. My students found it valuable and we pulled ideas from the specification during the revision session. It covers the command words used and a breakdown of the command words. We went through the levelled response question and I got them to mark 2 responses which you can find on the examiiners report (Q7). The exam questions used are also from the 2023 paper (Edexcel A) This would be a useful resource for exam preparation for mock exams or the real thing or you could break up the resource and imbed into your lesson when you are teaching the topics Q6 covers Topic 4 Q 7 covers Topic 6 (immunity)
