Task to create job wanted advert

(6)
Complete lesson - starts with managing your money quiz by rhianrebecca on this site. Students then look at examples of job adverts. Previously they will have considered jobs and the nature of jobs, evaluated themselves and adverts for sexism etc. and now it is time to make a job wanted ad where they have to think about everything that they have learned so far. Lesson ends with careers wordsearch - also from this site. Probably needs tweaking for own role/ age etc.

Two lessons working with geog and science to show how soil analysis works to solve the murder of Joe G. O’graphy. Apologies for puns. You will need 6 pairs of shoes in bags and seven different samples of soil. Joe G O’Graphy is dead and students must match the soil samples using sensory analysis, pH and soil profiles in a water solution to find whodunnit. When they have, they must prep to give their evidence in front of a judge (I ask the Head or Deputy to pop in). Also included is a reading comprehension for extension.

Applying Reconstructive Memory to a Scenario

We dress up in police hats and the students have to decide what elements of Reconstructive Memory they should be conscious of as they read each eyewitness statement. They write those ‘notes to self’ on to sticky notes and be prepared to defend them verbally to me, their sergeant. This can be done as groups or individuals. The resource has a photo of a bus crash and I give a trigger warning before using it.
