Cashflow and Profit

I created this (facilitated by AI) after reading the autobiography of Phil Knight, founder of Nike, who said that despite generating $1.3m in profitable revenue, their cashflow at the time was poor (‘living off the float’) and they were constantly approaching the bank for more credit. This activity helps students to identify why profitable products do not always result in positive cashflow or net balances. This is useful when you have looked at Income Statement / SOCI to combine and reinforce knowledge and understanding.

These resources were created for a student who struggles to take notes in class but are also useful as a topic summary for other students. They may not include everything so please check this but they were created using the TeachmateAI Content Explainer tool. They are useful for revision and include exam style questions which I ask students to complete voluntarily for rewards.

Market Research / Field Research Practical

(0)
A practical market research activity where students can go to the ‘field’ and record data in real-time. They can then analyse the data as a group and present their findings in a brief report. This one is useful for Y10 up but in terms of taking students off-site (on the road next to the school), it may be easier with Y12+ depending on your organisational culture and location! This works well as a group activity and covers a few areas from the IG, A Level and IB Business courses. I put groups into 4, one covering a car characteristic and they record as many cars as they can in 20 minutes - colour, size, type, age (this will need to be adapted for the country you are in). You will need to print 1 copy for each group. Clip boards (or mini-white boards) will be useful. Please feel free to steal, adapt, share as you wish but share with teachers for free. The images are from Google images.

A story based case study where students can follow a company’s objectives and how they change as the business grows. Courtesy of AI but with some adaptations based on the IGCSE syllabus and a few tweaks making it more suitable for my students.
