Bring George Orwell’s 1984 back into the classroom after summer reading with this 90-minute review lesson. Students revisit key events and ideas, support their views with evidence from the novel, and discuss how Orwell’s warnings connect with the world today.

The resource includes five activities:

1984 in Our World: connect themes such as surveillance, propaganda and censorship with present-day examples.

Big Brother: Agree or Disagree?: take a position, give reasons and respond to a partner.

True, False or Can’t Remember Yet?: check 14 details from the novel and correct false statements.

Six-Word 1984: sum up a central idea in exactly six words.

Exit Ticket: reflect on the idea that feels most memorable or relevant.

Students work independently, in pairs and in groups. The PDF contains two student worksheet pages and a teacher answer key with suggested responses and discussion notes. Suitable for a post-reading lesson or a return-to-school review.
