Respiration is more closely related to the muscles, which is a main example of organs carrying out respiration, than the lungs and small intestines which just facilitate gas/nutrient exchange to get the reactants for respiration. As stated below by someone else, relating lungs with respiration embed misconceptions that are often in place after primary school. This may also confuse students for other organisms like bacteria and plants.
