Songs with different features and vocal exercises.
Two vocal tongue twisters are used for a warm-up exercise and then we learn three songs:
Kye Kye Kule - a West African action song,
The Frog Song - a simple Japanese song rehearsing pitch,
John Kanaka - a sea shanty with call and refrain.
Each song has a different feature and may be more appropriate to different age groups, they can be used as repertoire for developing Ongoing Skills (Units 1, 8 and 15) or within specific units, e.g. Kaeruno uta ga - Unit 5 Taking Off: Exploring pitch.

These can be used as building blocks or lessons - I have used in Year5/6 class to teach rhythm, melody, accompaniment , chords etc.ie using Kye Kye Kule to introduce he musical terms in a structured, layered approach.
Thank you
