This resource is intended as a brief introduction to adaptations, covering the definition of adaptation, types and exploring some examples.

This is likely more useful for ‘lower attainment’/sen/semh classes and smaller groups. The activities involve minimal writing (mainly keywords) and some sticking activities.

There is a ppt and an accompanying worksheet. The ppt provides the answers to the activities. It may benefit from some prep., such as cutting the descriptions and images out in advance. The worksheets are better as A3.

The activities are as follows:
Main worksheet: general information about adaptations, with examples.
Types of adaptations: (cutting and) sticking activity in which students identify the type of adaptation and place it in the correct category.
Organism adaptations: (cutting and) sticking activity in which students match the adaptations to the correct of three organisms (penguin, shark, sunflower).
There is an additional ‘exam-style question’ that involves interpreting data.
