I used these pictures cards with my Year 2 class when we were looking at the alternative 'a' sound. The children had a piece of paper split into 4. They picked a card and wrote the word and put it in the correct box, e.g. 'ape' and 'acorn' would be together. 'Apple' and 'ant' would be in their own box.
