I use this lesson as an introduction to Animal Farm for KS3 or KS4 learners. I find it most suitable for KS3.

It is linked to creative writing and is used before the students begin reading the book.

It helps them think about the plot, themes and possible outcomes. The objective is to lead into them writing a creative piece based on Animal Farm before they start reading Wells’s wonderfully thought provoking allegory.

It can also be used purely for creative writing without the book.

The bank of adjectives table, an Excel document, is available for download in my other resource “Descriptive Writing - Lesson 1 - Creating a Bank of Adjectives”
