A resource aimed to introduce Y9 students to the history of apartheid in South Africa, looking at origins, policies, protests (within and outside of South Africa), Mandela and his legacy. We watched Invictus part-way through the unit, but this isn't essential to the scheme of work.

Contains inaccurate and false material. Whipping was never judicially or legally mandated in South Africa, nor was it an offence to teach a black servant to read. Apartheid had enough horror without needing silly manufactured "facts". Nor was most of Apartheid legislation issued by the "Department of Justice".
