**This lesson introduces the AQA Thematic Study, Britain: Health and the People. Students are provided with a choice of activities to get them thinking about the history of medicine and healthcare over time such as timelines, multiple choice quiz sheets and match up tasks. **

The 21 slide fully resourced lesson contains activities, tasks, practice exam questions, printable resources and all background knowledge:

  • Slide 1: Title slide
  • Slide 2: Main lesson aims
  • Slide 3: Warm Up - Where in Britain today, could a person go for treatment or medical advice?
  • Slide 4-7: An overview of the main question types for the unit.
  • Slide 8-9: An overview diagram of the factors which influenced change in medicine and healthcare throughout the period.
  • Slide 10: An overview of the main historical periods covered in the thematic study.
  • Slide 11-12: Task 1 - Students complete their own basic timeline of the period. Includes printable resource and answers.
  • Slide 13-15: Task 2 - Students identify the correct definitions on a printable key term worksheet. Answers provided for self assessment.
  • Slide 16-19: Task 3 -Students match the key individual to their medical discovery. Includes printable worksheet and answers.
  • Slide 20-21: Two sets of challenge questions
