
This is part 1 of a unit of work preparing students for their AQA Paper 1 English Language exam. There are 4 PowerPoints which guide teachers (and students) through all the activities. Also included are all the handouts of extracts referred to. In these lessons students are introduced to the requirements for questions 1 and 2. The lessons include: a brief introduction to the exam; Development of Question 1 skills using extracts from ‘About a Boy’, ‘King of the Castle’, ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘The Woman in Black’; Development of Question 2 skills including activities exploring the Effect on a Reader; analysis of language using extracts from ‘Great Expectations’ and ‘The Tiredness of Rosabel’.
Each lesson/PowerPoint includes a Knowledge Retrieval activity and a Hinge Point Question.
An overview of the whole Unit of Work is included. The first 4 lessons are a free resource and subsequent lessons can be purchased separately or are available as a bundle.
