In this lesson you will travel through 1,800 years of Black British history to learn about African soldiers in Roman Cumbria, discover how Slavery came to an end, and learn the story of the ‘Windrush generation’ who were invited to come to Britain after the Second World War to help rebuild the country.

You will:
Create a timeline chronicling Black British history.
Write a news story reporting on the abolition of slavery.
Design a graphic to inspire people to recognize and support the end of racism.

This lesson plan is designed for use in the classroom or can be given to students to work through at their own pace, either on their own or with others.

There is no need to print.

The lesson plan is suitable for a wide range of ages, but is geared towards students aged 12-16 years.
