Our Communities and the Environment - KS1

In this summer term Year 1 Wider World unit, we will learn about the environment, caring for living things, and how we all have a responsibility to care for others. We will explore what happens to our rubbish, and how we can help the Earth by using less, re-using what we can and recycling. We will also learn about out communities and how people help each other in different ways. This unit builds on learning from Reception and prepares children for more in-depth lessons about the environment and community responsibilities in KS2.

This free planning bundle includes a detailed scheme of work, a long-term plan showing our entire curriculum at a glance, a Year 1 roadmap illustrating the progressive design across the year, and a comprehensive knowledge organiser highlighting key vocabulary and summarising the progression of skills and knowledge. It also provides British Values mapping. Explore the detailed content of each lesson by clicking the links below.
