Collect items. Make sure you have groups of one and groups of more than one. I tried to choose items that my pupil would be able to spell. For example- sticks, pens, rocks, coins, spots, seeds and buttons.
Ask the child to sort the items into groups and then to write a list/ inventory. Whilst doing so I explained the use of s and the meaning of plural.
Writing the list will also provide repetitive spelling practise/ a chance to learn how to spell the word some.
