Two tables are provided dependent on age; younger children can use the 'what can you tell....' and older children can use the 'what can you infer...' sheet. Provide a text for the children and pupils pick and write a character name. More than one character can be done. Then they infer about the character. Pick a good text with interesting and strong character description. Children also write the evidence from the text that told them that, ideally in quotation marks, writing the exact words from the text. It can be used with non-fictional characters such as when studying biographies etc or history (cross-curricular). Spare tables provided for children who finish the first ones.
