This lesson package can be used at KS2, KS3 or KS4 to allow students to measure mass and volume of different materials and use these data to calculate density. To extend students, they can use data books to determine the identity of the material from its density, they can also be given density information of different liquids e.g. liquid metals, water and oil. They can then be asked to predict if the materials would float or sink in these liquids.

The materials include a full lesson plan, PowerPoint Presentation with information as well as prompts for the activity and a worksheet to lead students through the lesson.
