This resource and lesson plan pack has been designed and created for those who would like to explore diversity with a class of children through a series of workshops designed to encourage thought and conversations.

Citizenship lessons are sometimes hard to teach when you’re not sure where to start! However, here we have given you an idea of how to begin exploring some tricky concepts with children of a Key Stage 2 age and above. The workshop and resources are part of a series of 6 workshops that we have created to help inspire you to talk to your children about, and they can be done as stand-alone activity sessions or as a series to ensure that your children can fully understand and appreciate the concepts of equality and diversity.

This specific pack explores the initial ideas that children have about the world, but more specifically the people in it. The resources for all of these activities are included in this pack and should hopefully challenge some of the ideas that children have gathered. The idea of the journals throughout each workshop was to allow children to write how they feel and what they think about the new concepts that they have explored (and also to help them remember if you space out the workshops!)
We hope you enjoy it!
