International Skills | Fictional Election. Suggested ages 10-14. Free complete teaching resource.

Distinguish checkable claims, opinions and inferences, and write a headline that stays within the evidence.

Pupils use a short reading/reference sheet, two activities (The election notice and the headlines; What would settle the claim?) and an exit check. Teacher guidance and separate model answers support discussion and marking. Tasks accept evidence-based alternative answers where appropriate.

INCLUDED
11 pages per PDF edition. Four matching editions: colour A4, colour US Letter, monochrome A4 and monochrome US Letter. These are versions of the same teaching content, not 44 different teaching pages. Eight editable PowerPoint slides with teacher notes; adaptable reading, questions and answers; file guide. Seven files in one ZIP.

SCOPE AND USE
INTERNATIONAL SKILLS | FICTIONAL ELECTION. See the reading for the specific jurisdiction and classroom assumptions. All supplied numerical/scenario examples are fictional teaching models. No party, candidate or political outcome is promoted. No alignment to a named curriculum or classroom trial is claimed. Read short texts and explain a decision with evidence. Intended for one adaptable lesson or two shorter sessions; select tasks to match prior knowledge. Do not ask pupils to disclose family politics or voting intentions.

Choose one print edition and separate pupil pages 3–6 from answers on pages 7–9. Download and extract the ZIP; a PDF reader and PowerPoint-compatible software are needed. The sample images show actual content; the complete free download includes answers and slides. Background sources and licence are in the pack.
