This could be split up into two (1. write ideas 2. write poem) or even three lessons (1. write ideas 2. write poem 3. perform). Or this could be a single, longer lesson. Whatever suits your class best. Plan provided. Children write poems saying how amazing they are using exaggeration, then they perform their poems. Children can use rhyme, use similes/metaphors and follow the pattern of how the lines start as a challenge but they don’t have to. This is more for the higher ability children. Print and refer to the rhyming word prompts for the tables to help children rhyme. You can print the poem for the tables to analyse/help the children write their own. A fun way for children to learn about exaggeration and to mix it with poetry. A writing template is provided for children who find writing/presentation difficult. A pdf and a powerpoint are attached for the input presentation in case of compatibility issues.
