First Reading 1d Revision Mrs Pryce's Funny Phonics

FIRST READING 1d Revision (similar to Pink Band reading level) – to supplement (not replace) the teaching of phonics. Children will need to be able to recognise most of single letter sounds to access this resource.
Set 1: Revision powerpoint files repeat the structure of each powerpoint file from 1a to 1f, with a variation to provide further practice, if necessary.
The Powerpoint slides aim to develop early reading skills using the cloze procedure - using the context (illustration) to predict unknown words and to cross check two sources of information (the meaning and the available letters – in this case, the initial sound). It encourages children to use other strategies when their phonic knowledge is insufficient for segmenting and blending an unknown word.
