A free sample of our joined handwriting books for the statutory spelling lists (national curriculum in England). Use it to check that the letter style matches the one your school teaches before you buy.
What is inside (9 A4 pages):
- Warm-up letters: the round letters a, c, d, g, o and q, each with a numbered start point and a direction arrow.
- Join 1: up to a small letter (pairs and words to trace, then lines to write).
- 10 Year 3/4 statutory words: accident, believe, favourite, February, knowledge, minute, occasion, particular, separate, though.
- 10 Year 5/6 statutory words: accommodate, achieve, conscience, definite, embarrass, marvellous, mischievous, queue, rhythm, yacht.
- Each word: trace it, trace a paler copy, then cover it and write it from memory.
- A how-to page with teacher notes.
Every tracing grey and guide line is darker than mid grey, and every page was tested as a 1-bit black-and-white copy, so it prints clearly on a school photocopier.
The full books: the Year 3/4 book and the Year 5/6 book each have warm-up letters a-z, five joins pages, every statutory word traced and copied, every word used in a short sentence, and a progress tracker. Find them in the Diya & Dot shop.
