GCSE Acrostic Puzzle - Cell Biology

My students love doing these acrostic puzzles. They can be used for:

• Consolidating the topic key terms
• Revision for end of topic tests (or Paper 1 exams)
• Home-learning activities
• Improving literacy

The questions and answers are based on the AQA GCSE Biology specification, although they can also be used for the Trilogy (double award) too as the ‘Biology only’ questions are in italics. This acrostic puzzle is suitable for both foundation and higher tiers.

To complete the puzzle the students will need to work out the answer to each numbered (horizontal) clue and write it on the answer sheet. Each box space represents one letter so the students can also work out how long each word is.
When they have work our the numbered clues the column in bold on the answer sheet will also spell a question which the students can find the answer too.
