In this activity, students will examine the major Germanic tribal migrations that weakened and ultimately destroyed Roman authority in Western Europe during the late Roman period and fifth century. They will explore the origins, movements, and settlements of tribes such as the Goths, Vandals, Franks, Saxons, Lombards, and Angles, investigating how these migrations disrupted Roman trade, replaced Roman political structures, and transformed the cultural foundations of early medieval Europe.
