• This teaching resource explains the work of Dr Pamela Block from Western University in Canada, Dr Nádia Meinerz from the Federal University of Alagoas in Brazil and Bruna Teixeira from the Brazilian feminist art collective Ateliê Ambrosina. They are exploring disability and identity through portraits, podcasts and creative participatory research.
• This resource also contains interviews with Pamela, Nádia and Bruna, and offers an insight into careers in disability anthropology. If your students have questions for Pamela, Nádia or Bruna they can send them through the Futurum Careers website.
• The activity sheet provides ‘talking points’ (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy) to prompt students to reflect on Pamela, Nádia and Bruna’s research and challenges them to create a self-portrait to express or reflect on their identity.
• These resources are also available in Portuguese.
This resource was first published by Futurum Careers, a free online resource and magazine aimed at encouraging 14-19-year-olds worldwide to pursue careers in science, tech, engineering, maths, medicine (STEM) and social sciences, humanities and the arts for people and the economy (SHAPE).
