This resource contains a list of commonly used idioms and expressions that can be used for a variety of activities. The list of words can be used for either Actionary or Pictionary (so the paper can be cut up and students draw out of a hat for example), or drawn out of a hat and used for a spontaneous roleplay activity using the prompts on page 3. The prompts can also be used for a writing activity or an individual oral presentation activity. The Calvin and Hobbes comic strips can then be used for extended writing activities, or each frame can be assigned an idiom, or students could even make up their own idioms. In short, a versatile resource that can be used for differentiation, for a sit-down lesson or a more active lesson for a variety of year groups and abilities.
