We use these as stimulus for short burst creative writing.
The children look at the picture, single things they particular was to describe. They fill their page with experimental words/phrases, being as descriptive as they possibly can. They feedback and I cover the picture with their descriptions (I have put pictures in Powerpoint for ease, but I tend to use them in Easyteach or Interwrite so I can annotate over).
I model taking extending to great sentences, using VCOP. They then try it . The sentences they develop are always brilliant and they tend to amaze themselves!
