KS3 Reading List

This reading list has been carefully put together to support students in Years 7–9 as they develop their reading skills throughout Key Stage 3. The selection of texts aims to encourage a love of reading while also challenging students to think more deeply about language, themes, and characters.

The books included cover a range of genres, from classic literature to modern fiction, ensuring that there is something to engage every reader. As students progress through each year group, the level of challenge increases, helping to build confidence, vocabulary, and comprehension skills in preparation for GCSE study.

Alongside well-established titles, the list also includes contemporary works that reflect a variety of perspectives and experiences. This is intended to broaden students’ understanding of the world and promote empathy through reading.
