This lesson is designed to have students delve into the characteristics, accomplishments, and
historical significance of Liberty Medal winners. Students are asked to research and create
trading cards for recipients. The students are then asked to trade their cards with fellow
classmates in hopes of getting the most valuable trading cards. In doing so, the students will
deliberate on each of the winners’ characteristics, accomplishments and historical significance.
