A simple, low-pressure activity where children show their preferences by colouring, circling or crossing images. Designed to spark natural talk, this sheet supports children to express opinions while adults model language through calm commentary.

This activity develops oracy by giving children a clear reason to communicate. As children colour, circle or cross images, adults sit alongside and model language through commentary, naming choices and actions in the moment (e.g. “You like the bike.”). This supports vocabulary, thinking and confidence without pressure to answer questions. Children practise expressing preferences using words, gestures or marks, helping talk grow naturally from meaningful play.
