Week 1 taster of a full 12-week unit of learning about Space.

Weekly plans include 3 topic (wider curriculum) sessions and 1 science session, each with necessary resources and SMART notebook slides.

The full 12-week unit is available to download on my page.

Children will blast off to the far flung corners of the galaxy to find out more about the planets that make up our solar system. They begin with an exciting launch day and take part in Space Academy where they will undertake astronaut training! They will find fascinating facts about the Sun, Moon and Earth and develop an understanding of day and night, the four seasons and the Moon’s phases. The Sun and the planets making up our Solar System are investigated, along with the other stars in their constellation. The children will explore the notion of time zones and how countries are either ahead or behind GMT depending on their location. They will study the history of space travel and discovery as well as defending Galieo in court!
