A poster that can be enlarged to A3 or larger to show pupils what to do if they receive a typical ‘money mule recruitment’ message.

Money muling is where criminals contact an unsuspecting person and offer them a ‘job’ with high pay for very few hours and little effort. The ‘job’ is to accept transfers of money (the proceeds from criminal activity) into their bank account and then, when told to do so, transfer it to another account. Criminals allow the ‘money mule’ to keep a portion of the money as payment.

Children and young people are increasingly being targetted by criminal money mule recruiters, in some cases, even children as young as 11 are now receiving these messages.

Money mules can face serious and long-lasting consequences if caught: the closure of your bank account, black-listing by credit agencies and financial institutions, and even a criminal conviction.
