News articles for teaching: Holocaust Memorial Day

Each year, Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945. It is an opportunity for everyone to remember those killed in the Holocaust and wider Nazi persecution and to reflect on other genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

At The Day we look at stories, explore the issues behind them and consider different opinions on what is happening. There are activities designed for homework or classwork, an explanation of difficult words and debate questions. Our articles can be used as complete lessons, starters, for extended learning or independent research.
