Create a traditional piñata in celebration of Las Posadas. People from Mexico celebrate the Christmas season beginning on December 16th. Each evening for nine nights, people walk through the streets as a group. It is called Las Posadas, which means ‘inns’ or ‘lodging’. They do this to remember the journey Mary and Joseph took in search of a place to stay. Each night’s walk ends with a celebration in a different home. One of the highlights of the nightly celebrations is a piñata for the children. The traditional shape is the star, like the Star of Bethlehem.
