Passive Solar Energy Presentation

A short and simple presentation to introduce the idea of passive solar heating. This is when the sun’s energy is used to heat water, which can then be used as a supply of hot water for a house, or to generate electricity by the creation of steam (as in this example, which shows a passive solar power station in Spain). There are optional questions at the end, and an activity suggestion (making ‘smores’ using solar cookers). I followed this with UPD8’s ‘Here Comes the Sun’ activity, and the next lesson we made solar cookers.
