A very simple list of nouns, verbs and adjectives on tiles that can be printed and laminated.

These can be used for sorting (I sometimes use hula hoops and have the chn. sort them into their correct categories).
They can also be used for various other activities ie; choose a noun and come up with 10 adjectives to describe it.
See how many nouns/adjectives you can put together which make sense.
Create a sentence using one of the nouns, verbs and adjectives. Act it out.
Play noun charades or verb charades or adjective charades. The chn. need to guess which word the person up front is acting out.
Sort the verbs into past tense and present tense.
Sort the nouns into proper nouns and common nouns. Could also look at concrete vs. abstract nouns (though I haven't included abstract in the resource). I tried to stay away from abstract nouns as I find this can be quite confusing for children but could be a lesson in itself.

I also like to look at how words can fit into more than one category. For example, the word "open."

Used as an adjective: The curious girl looked through the mysterious, open door.
Used as a verb: The curious girl opened the mysterious door.

Feel free to add other ideas of how these might be used. :)

This is exactly what I was after - a great resource to be used in my literacy session this week as a word sort and sentence maker. Thank you
