Quality Assured stories and lesson packs for KS1-KS2 covering a wide range of PSHE topics. Free resource. Squashing the worry monster. Story + lesson plan + resources.

*“I used to know a monster who was scary, big and strong.
But since I learned to squash him, we actually get along.” *

This story helps children recognise and deal with worries. It is not a story that teaches implicitly about mental health. Rather, it equips children to recognise and articulate ‘the worry monster’ and adopt healthy behaviours to squash him.

KS2. Positive strategies for children to manage anxiety, ensuring children are able recognise when to accept worry as a normal part of daily life and when to seek help.

Produced for TES Resources members by The Curiosity Library, all of whose resources are quality assured by the PSHE Association.

“We’re delighted to award our Quality Mark to the Curiosity Library, a new collection of stories and lesson packs for KS1-KS2 that help pupils learn more about themselves and the world they are growing up in.” The PSHE Association, October 2023.

The stories in the Curiosity Library cover a wide range of important themes, from refugees and mental health, to tackling bullying and online safety. Each story is supported by a dedicated lesson plan and accompanying resources and teacher notes for effective delivery.
