Radioactivity Uses Worksheet

This worksheet gives a brief overview of three uses of radioactivity (alpha particles in smoke detectors, beta particles for measuring sheet thicknesses, gamma rays for sterilising medical equipment). Requires students to work out which type of radiation would be best for each use. Could be done just after introducing the properties of the three types of radiation. Students may need additional help to understand how the smoke detector works.
