I typically allow students to jump in on the 'spice level' of their choice if running out of time but prefer to start all students on lemon and herb and have them complete tasks moving up the sheet as a timed activity. Questions start off as low demand at the top and then progressively increase in difficulty as students move down the sheet - please note that I have used this activity style with higher ability classes and many students have started at the bottom to gain the most points and then worked their way up the sheet as an effective strategy.
