Free A3 Posters - Typical Features of Creative/Narrative Writing for GCSE English Paper 1 Question 5.
I wanted something new to put on the walls of my classroom but something that was more in line with the kind of art (some of) my students seem to like. So I decided on an anime style for these three posters. I also wanted to have something on the wall about creative/narrative writing which reflected the features that the students should consider using in their writing. So, for Paper 1 Question 5 I couldn’t fit them all on to one poster, hence the three that you see here.
They are based on the “Typical features – narrative writing” list which will now appear on the AQA mark schemes on the right hand side of the page. They are already on the SAMS that AQA have released – and I have based these poster on those features. I have tried to boil them down into manageable (and short) descriptions on the posters. Also, I have tried to “balance” them visually so that they will look great next to each other. Of course, they can be placed at various points in the class room – over to you. I hope you and your students enjoy them.
I will reiterate here what it says on the new mark scheme – that this is not a checklist, but a guide to the typical features often shown by our learners. However, here I have tried to generalise these features, rather than reflect what students can do at each level!
Images are all AI – which may produce squeals of disapproval from you or your students. However, both sources I have used enable me to produce these posters without worrying about copyright infringement!
I have made the PowerPoints available as well as the PDF version so you may tweak the posters if you so wish. The posters are designed to be printed out as A3 posters but work better on A2 if you have that facility.
