This “Show, Don’t Tell” character emotions worksheet is a great way to help writers develop their characters and convey their emotions more effectively.

This resources allows writers to develop their ability to create:

  • Emotional responses
  • Physical reactions that characters may exhibit (such as clenched fists or a furrowed brow)
  • Actions or behaviours that may be displayed
  • Thoughts and feelings that may be experienced,

Top tips:

  • Print two or four to a page to save printing costs
  • Laminate a copy and use as an ELSA resource to help children express their own emotions and behaviours.
