A complete LKS2 lesson for Y3/Y4 on influences on spending from Tykeoons’ MoneySmarts. Active learning throughout, differentiated for all abilities.

Pupils explore the people and pressures that can influence how we spend money, from friends and family to online influencers and time-limited offers. The lesson introduces the “Notice, Pause, Choose” framework: a three-step approach to recognising when you are being influenced and making a considered decision rather than an impulsive one. Two group mini-dramas bring the scenarios to life, with the whole class watching and discussing before pupils move to independent work. Works as a standalone lesson or as part of the full MoneySmarts 7-9 series.

Suitable for PSHE and financial education, with strong links to critical thinking and media literacy.
