Subject: Personal, social and health education
Age range: 11-14
Resource type: Lesson (complete)

This lesson on STIs is lesson 2 of a 4 lesson programme series for Yr9 or 10 called ‘I wish’. I Wish explores the reasons why teenagers might choose to have s* x and what they might need to consider before making that choice, including consent, contraception unplanned pregnancy, STI’s and the emotional aspects of that choice. It educates students on how to keep themselves safe from the risks of teen s* x, including information on contraception, condom use and STI testing. It examines the benefits of delaying s* x until a long term committed relationship.
The programme was developed by a GP, teachers and a youth worker and is fully researched-backed, age-appropriate and holistic.
The lesson involves a 15min interactive video and then follow on material to deepen understanding, complete further tasks and discuss key learning. Full teacher notes are included. Can be used in a 50-70min lesson slot.
