Teachers TV: Investigating Sound

Enthusiastic Science Co-ordinator, Katrine Shears, runs a half-day science investigation for a Year 6 group revising sound, in ‘KS1/2 Science’.

Pupils devise their own investigations to find the most effective ways of muffling an alarm clock. Tips and hints for running and organising a successful investigation are offered, and looks at what to do when pupils don't get answers they might expect.

With expert input from Hellen Ward of Canterbury Christ Church University, this film shows how much teachers and pupils learn from working with science investigations.

    Extremely helpful to see an investigation in progress. The focus and ideas on how the children make choices will enable me to plan this into my lessons. I've also picked up on many recommendations, in particular to focus on one investigation a term but in detail. Thank you.

    A good lesson plan for a sound investigation. It comes with a very good video explaining about primary science and how best to approach it. Very good for an NQT or a teacher who lacks confidence in Science teaching.
