THE DISAPPEARING ISLAND OF KRAKATOA - AUGUST 1883 ERUPTION

In August 1883 one of the loudest and most explosive volcanic eruptions occurred under the island of Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait between Sumatra and Java. In the wider perspective this eruption was part of a sequence of volcanic activities resulting in the formation and destructive power of volcanoes.
