Hi, ‘Strangers’ is one of the sections of the novel (from what I remember!) and CHIP is something I use to help breakdown the ‘analysis’ part of PEA in critical essay writing. It stands for Context, How, Importance, Personal opinion. So something like:<br />
Point - Thornhill is a conflicted character<br />
Evidence - “I need the locals but I hate the locals”<br />
Analysis...<br />
Context - Thornhill is deep in thought contemplating how to survive in this new land.<br />
How - Greenwood explores Thornhill’s confusion through his dejected yet hopeful tone. The ‘locals’ he repeats to emphasise how<br />
Much they occupy his thoughts.<br />
Importance - as the novel progresses, the conflict present in Thornhill begins to consume him and lead to his demise.<br />
Personal opinion - the reader feels the tension and feels a sense of foreboding that events will, inevitably, run their bloody course.<br />
