I created this resource to help my lower ability students. The place mat is very effective as it gives the students more structure when given the task to work in pairs.

I have used this with students with SEND and the students really respond to the structure and better quality work is produced. It worked especially well with students who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties as well as students with MLD and Autism as it gives them a clear structure.

With this resource you can print it on paper and get the students to write on it and then stick it in their books as evidence of work or use it as a display to prompt students on what they need to do in 'think, pair, share'

I have also used this recourse by printing it in A3 and laminating it so the students can write on it with a white board pen the it can be cleaned and used again.

The recourse is easily adapted for example I made this with Homer and Marge Simpson characters but it can very easily be changed and more detail can be added or taken away to differentiate for different students.
