4 week unit of writing based on novel: Wild Boy
Weeks 1-2 Play script. Children will create their very own play script based on Wild Boy. There are opportunities for speaking and listening, drama and grammar warm-ups to re-cap Y5 grammar including dialogue.
Weeks 3-4 Play script evaluation. Children will write a non-fiction evaluation based on their play script. Grammar warm-ups consider formal language and sentence structure.
Weeks 5-6 Poetry. Children will write a poem about a character of their choosing. There are lots of opportunities in the lessons for children to analyse poems (both rhyming and non-rhyming) and practise writing their own short burst poetry. Grammar warm-ups explore metaphors and similes.
