Activity: children ‘guess’ (predict) what a word could be, and cross check the available letters. Words are then used in sentences.
Some words are obvious, but some will need discussion and trial and error. The process should encourage children to cross check sources of information (context and available letters) rather than relying wholly on segmenting and blending.
